My name is Peter Gunn and I am an author, historian and publisher.
For over 30 years I have been researching and writing aviation history and recently completed my sixth book, Sculthorpe, Secrecy and Stealth: A Norfolk Airfield in the Cold War.
The book charts the story of the airfield from its beginnings in 1943 to become a front-line nuclear bomber base of the US Air Force from 1951, at the height of the Cold War. Some secrets are unravelled, not least the clandestine RAF and USAF overflights over Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union.
The photograph was taken outside the former American All-Ranks Club, next to the plaque commemorating the United States Air Force 47th Bomb Wing, at Sculthorpe from 1952-1962.
